On March 3, 1897, the Bottled-in-Bond Act was signed into law and one of our favorite American Whiskey
traditions was born. With this designation, rigorous standards were set for Whiskey's authenticity and it's
been a sign of quality ever since. Today, we’re proud to produce more Bottled-in-Bond products than any
other American Whiskey distiller.
To be labeled as Bottled-in-Bond, a whiskey must meet seven specific requirements outlined by the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897: it must be the product of one distillery during one distilling season (either January-June or July-December), distilled by one distiller, aged for a minimum of four years in a federally bonded warehouse, bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), and the label must indicate the distillery of origin and, if different, the bottling facility. Additionally, only water can be added to reduce the proof to 100.
