Guarda Rios Description
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Touriga Nacional, & Shiraz
The wine is deep, dark red with hints of purple and orange. On the nose, it has fruity aromas with notes of raspberry jam. On the palate it shows blackberry jam mixed with chocolate-covered cherries. Full bodied but not heavy, with light tannins that give the wine an elegant finish.
This would pair well with grilled lamb chops or roasted chicken breast served over couscous salad drizzled in olive oil dressing.
The Guarda Rios (Kingfisher) is the messenger. The grapes for this wine come from the unique terroir of Alentejano, a region on the coast of Portugal. The grapes are carefully selected and stored in low temperatures to preserve the intense aromas and flavors of the wine. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks, but is then aged in French oak for a 6 to 9 months.
Intense aromas of wild berries, with spicy vanilla oak, smokey complexity. Smooth, well-balanced palate with sweet fruit and fine tannins, chocolate and cinnamon notes, dry finish.

The wine's rich fruit and structure are dense and have potential. This is a solid wine, black fruits foremost with spice from wood aging. The wine will be at its best from 2022.
