Jeremie Huchet Description
While the label here features a bowler hat (in French, “Chapeau Melon”), what you’re more likely to be wearing after you try a sip of this is a big ole smile. Over the past 20 years, Jeremie Huchet has staked out a reputation as one of the finest and most important winegrowers in the Muscadet region of Pays Nantais in the western Loire Valley. And while we certainly love his “serious” wines, his “just for fun” project is a real joy, too.
Here Jeremie plays around a bit with a white that blends two of the Loire Valley’s most important white grapes: Sauvignon Blanc (think Touraine, Sancerre, Pouilly Fume) and Melon de Bourgogne, the grape of bone dry, minerally, Muscadet. Big Sauvignon aromas of ripe peach, melon, yuzu, and passionfruit lead to a crisp, fruit-filled, palate where the citrus builds and a little bit of Melon's salty stone minerality and green apple join the party. Just a wonderfully refreshing and fun bottle of white for simple suppers and sharing with friends. In short, a great house white at a super savings, value, price
