WINEMAKING NOTES: Night picked and delivered to winery in early morning. Pressed with a bladder press, cold settled, racked to clean, low solids juice and fermented cool in stainless steel tanks with VL3 yeast to accentuate varietal notes. New wine was racked away from the yeast lees, fined with bentonite for stability and held cold until bottling. No malolactic ferment and no oak.
VINTAGE NOTES: The 2021 vintage of the Alexander Valley was warm and dry for the second year in a row. These conditions resulted in lower yields that had excellent concentration of flavor and exceptional fruit quality. Harvested over several days in Mid-August - 8/12, 8/13, 8/19 2021.
VINEYARD: This wine was made exclusively from the Lyon vineyard in northern Alexander Valley. The grapes are grown organically and biodynamically on the sandy loam alluvial soils along the Russian River.
TASTING NOTES: Light straw in color, this Sauvignon blanc exhibits the floral, green melon and dry herbal notes typical of this warmer growing region. Flavors of ripe mandarin and grapefruit lead to notes of papaya, kiwi, thai basil and jasmine. Finishing with a sense of minerality and crisp acidity, this wine is totally dry and focuses on the grape varietal character without any malolactic ferment or oak complexities.
