A fresh and structured red wine with aromas of black cherries, tea leaves and raw cocoa beans on the nose. Medium-bodied and chewy, but accessible, with purity.
Producer Notes
Salcheto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a bold and expressive wine shaped by the dramatic forces of nature, from unexpected frosts to intense droughts. These challenging conditions have given rise to a wine that is both robust and deeply intense, delivering a powerful yet beautifully balanced experience. With its rich structure and complexity, this Tuscan gem pairs perfectly with hearty dishes like braised short ribs, wild mushroom risotto, or aged pecorino cheese. Each sip tells a story of resilience and craftsmanship, making it a must-try for lovers of bold, character-driven wines.
Tuscany, Montepulciano (Siena). Founded in 1984 as a classic multi-crop farm, Salcheto is now a vineyard of over 60 hectares of organically farmed grapes, operating in one of the most ecologically advanced wine cellars to make sustainable local wines with honed mouthfeel and aroma. There should be a synergy between the earth and all growing things, man included. At Salcheto they try to respect this relationship on a daily basis, as they attempt to maintain a balance with nature through sustainable farming and winemaking practices. These include non-invasive organic and biodynamic growing methods, as well as systematic energy and water conservation. Ultimately, the goal is to work in an environmentally responsible manner to create the greatest expression of quality and authenticity in their wines. With this in mind, Salcheto hopes to bring romance and passion to the science of fine winemaking, blending time-honored tradition with modern technology. It is a life challenge that they take very seriously, or at least as seriously as young, passionate winemakers can. Salco, (their most important vineyard and label designate) means willow tree in the ancient Tuscan dialect. Salcheto is the name of a stream that runs through the property where willows once grew in abundance. They have just begun to replant willow trees on the estate in areas not suitable for viticulture. Eventually Salcheto will use the wood for heating, with the goal of creating a sustainable green system at the winery that is 100-percent energy independent. Vegan, Organic, Biodynamic & Sustainable
A lively, well-defined red, featuring cherry, raspberry, eucalyptus, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors. Linear and intense, this evolves to the long, savory finish.
The nose both glistens and crackles, with aromas of ripe black plums, blackberry tea, graphite and pepper. The palate intensifies while staying balanced, as the tangy sweetness of macerated blackberries and blood oranges contrasts with a solid, earthy, spiced element. Lithe, athletic acid weaves through firm yet flexible tannins
